Assessment purposes and methods used by EFL teachers in secondary schools in Jordan

This study examines the purposes and methods of classroom-based assessment (CBA) used by English as a Foreign Language (EFL) teachers in secondary schools Jordan. The data was collected through an online questionnaire that surveyed 54 participants follow-up semi-structured interviews with three teachers. were analyzed SPSS using descriptive statistics, while transcribed coded for recurrent themes. showed use to achieve various goals, including those related students’ performance, instruction, administration. also found employed range which teacher-made tests most common. Additionally, teachers’ choices be influenced factors such National Exam (Tawjihi), proficiency level, well their own knowledge assessment. These findings have implications prompting awareness among EFL stakeholders Jordan about vital role CBA necessity improve teacher training professional development programs order enhance practices.
